Terry Gambill


Coach Terry Gambill is a graduate of Garland High School and Tarleton State University. In college, he was a four-year letterman in football at Tarleton, where he was inducted into their Sports Hall of Fame in 1997.

He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant for Tarleton’s football team in 1984. After graduating with both his Bachelor and Masters degrees, he then ventured into high school coaching with his first stop being at his alma mater, Garland High School, coaching football under his former coach, Joe Boring.

As an assistant coach, Terry also coached at Duncanville, Southlake Carroll, Forney, and Allen High School. He eventually became the Head Football Coach at Midway High School in Waco where served from 2010-2015. And in 2015, he took over as Head Football Coach at Allen High School, until his retirement in 2021.

Coach Gambill has proudly coached multiple sports (football, soccer, baseball, basketball, track, and weightlifting) and been a part of multiple state championships. Two of these championships occurred as an assistant in 1993 at Southlake High School and 2008 at Allen High School. Then, in 2017, he led Allen to its most recent state championship as their head coach. He was named Coach of the Year by several publications as a result.

In 2023, Coach Gambill was inducted into the Allen Hall of Honor - only two years after retiring.

In total, he has coached for 36 years and currently resides in Allen, Texas with his wife, Cindy. They have three children and seven grandchildren. In his spare time, he loves to play golf and travel.
